1. Workshop on “Information Literacy in the Digital Age”

2. ASIS&T Panel on Multidisciplinary Research on Academic Writing, Reading, & Thinking: Information Science and Digital Library Perspectives

This panel will explore the relation between academic writing, reading and thinking from information science and digital library perspectives, including:
-Information selection and use, and citation behavior in academic writing
-Knowledge structures and argumentation in academic writing

-Text mining, writing analytics and corpus-based analysis to support research, teaching and writing
-Online resources and digital library applications to support academic writing

3. ASIS&T Panel “Starting an Academic Career in Library & Information Science”

Audience:

Description:

Deans and experienced academics from different countries share their experience and offer advice to PhD students and new academics on academic job search, getting tenure and planning their academic and research careers. Questions will be addressed in this panel:
-Searching for suitable faculty and research positions in different countries in Asia and beyond
-Applying for the faculty/research position
-Preparing for and performing in the campus visit and interview
-Deciding on which offer to accept and which school/organization to go to
-Planning the academic and research career, including getting tenure
-Postdoc versus faculty position
-Academic structures and environments in different countries

4. Workshop “Digital archiving and preservation collaboration in Asia-Pacific”

Date-Time: 

November 15, 2017 11.00 – 12.30 (1.30 hours)

Objectives: To exchange ideas and experiences among A-LIEP/ICADL participants on digital archiving and preservation initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly Southeast Asia.

Description:

Archiving and preserving digital content/objects becomes one of the grand challenges of digital lives. The digital content emerged in the Asia-Pacific region are very diverse due to cultural differences. However, there are some certain aspects of digital content in this region that are common. This workshop aims to find out the current practices and future plans on how cultural institutions, information centers, and research institutions in Asia-Pacific can collaborate in order to support the stewardship of valuable digital content in this region.
